Introduction
Oklahoma State wears a variety of uniforms for gameday. In early 2010, rumors began to circulate that the Cowboys were going to have new Nike uniforms for the first time since 2006. Throughout the Spring, pictures began to appear on various forums and blogs of mock-ups for these new uniforms. Based on these images, I designed the below graphics to depict what these uniforms may end up like when they are officially released. There are several different combinations for the new era of uniforms. I have categorized them by “top-pant” color combinations. The proposed combinations are Orange-White, Orange-Orange, Black-Black, Grey-Grey, White-White, Black-Grey, and White-Grey. Of course, numerous combinations can be added based on switching helmets, tops, and bottoms.
The white helmet configuration has been worn since 2001, although the uniforms themselves have changed. It is speculated that the Pokes will wear a black helmet for the first time since 1983.
The Cowboys began wearing predominantly black shoes (instead of white shoes) before the 2008 season.
The images I have created below catalogue the current uniforms and several past uniforms dating back to 1967. I am trying to update and expand this history, so if you have any comments or pictures that show previous uniforms you can send them to admin (@) seaoforange (.com).

OSU Uniform History
Over the years, the style and basic features of Oklahoma State’s uniform have remained the same. Slight variations in script, texture, and color of the uniform have changed. “Cowboys”, “Oklahoma State”, and “State” have predominantly been featured on the front the uniform. From year to year, players’ last names have been added, removed, and added again to the uniform. Additionally, the age of multiple and numerous stripes has been replaced by piping and accenting. The make and durability of the uniform has changed as well. In the 1970s and 1980s, uniforms were loose fitting. Since the mid-1990s, uniforms have become more tight-fitting, dependable, breathable, and longer-lasting clothing that help athletes perform.

The past configuration of uniforms were first worn in 2006 and are made by Nike. There are four different combinations for the current era of uniforms. I have categorized them by “top-pant” color combinations. Currently, Oklahoma State uses Orange-White, Orange-Orange, Black-Black, White-White, and White-Orange. The current helmet configuration has been worn since 2001, although the uniforms themselves have changed.
The Cowboys began wearing predominantly black shoes (instead of white shoes) before the 2008 season. Additionally, the collar on the white away top was changed from orange to black before the 2007 season.
2001-2005

This uniform combination was worn during the Les Miles era and the first year under Head Coach Mike Gundy. The players’ names were removed in 2005. Additionally, there were Orange-Orange, White-White, and White-Orange variations of this uniform.

1984-1992

Between 1984-1992, Oklahoma State changed very little about their uniform. For several years, “Cowboys” was located on the front of the jersey. This was changed to “Oklahoma State” before the 1988(?) season.
1980-1983

For four seasons, the Cowboys wore a black helmet and black facemask in addition to their orange uniform. “Cowboys” was added to the front of the jersey.
1980-1983 (Black)

Sometime during the Jimmy Johnson era (1979-83) the Cowboys also wore an alternate black uniform. Here is “The Ultimate” Jim Traber sporting the black threads.
1973-1979

Between 1973-1979, very little changes were made to the uniform. The most noticable changes were to the helmet. The Cowboys went from a gray to a white facemask in 1976. The single white stripe atop the helmet was removed prior to the 1977 season.
1970-1971

1969

From 1969-1970, the Pokes wore a very simple uniform, with white numbering on the jersey, white helmet, gray facemask, and “OSU” on the helmet.
1967-1968

The helmet with the white numerals was used during OSU’s first five games in 1967, while the helmet with the cowboy and horse logo was used for the last four games.
